About
Monica is a Silversmith and Jeweller from Glasgow.
Her sense of identity stems from her connection to the material world. A curiosity about how we use objects to anchor memory—and what the objects of the past reveal about forgotten histories—drives her practice. Blending both Scottish archeology with personal narratives, Monica creates contemporary artefacts that feel distant, yet somewhat familiar, evoking feelings of nostalgia from the viewer.
The material presence of the past continues to influence her artist practice both conceptually and through her commitment to the preservation of ancient techniques. Since graduating from the Glasgow School of Art with a First Class Honours (2021) she has undergone training residencies to deepen her skills with The Glasgow School of Art (2021/2023), Craft Scotland COMPASS (2025) and most recently an apprenticeship with Master Silversmith, Rod Kelly in Shetland (2024/2025).
